Lessons learned in affordability

VoIP and IP phones help schools and governments stick to their master plans for cutting costs, easing administration, and pleasing users. Numbers talk. In schools and government agencies with strict oversight and financial transparency, everyone takes a close look at cost analysis and return on investment. ShoreTel has gained a following in these sectors for consistently delivering better numbers than Cisco, Avaya, and other IP communication providers. Schools and agencies have realized that ShoreTel gives them real lineitem savings in actual costs, and they have also gained the hard-to-calculate savings from reduced administrative and maintenance costs.

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) calculated its savings at $533,000 over five years. The San Diego university conducted a return-on-investment analysis on its ShoreTel solution and cited significant reductions from least call routing, canceling leased systems, service calls to third-party vendors, and cost avoidance. By choosing ShoreTel rather than Cisco, PLNU saved $100,000 on Cisco UCM licensing, $75,000 on a one-time upgrade of VoIP infrastructure, $50,000 on a Cisco Certified Internet Expert, $40,000 on Workgroup software, and $10,000 in training costs.
