Leading UC Solution Provides Major Boost to Patient Quality of Service & Savings of at least 26 Work 2 Per Week

Upgrading to ShoreTel's easy to deploy and maintain UC system has provided a major boost to patient quality of service offered by the medical practice, which anticipates recovering its telephony cost outlay within the next 12 months.

The ShoreTel UC solution, which was installed by systems integrators Flexnet, has provided a major boost to productivity at the practice with one of its three receptionists needed for its previous 10-line Commander system now reassigned to assist medical staff, according to Robert Szwarcberg, director of Airlie Women's Clinic.

"The lift in productivity from the ShoreTel solution, comprising ShoreTel IP265 colour screen phones and ShoreTel Call Manager, has saved the practice a minimum of 26 work hours per week. The impact on the practice was incredible. And it began from day one," Mr Szwarcberg said.

"ShoreTel has changed our internal environment. With some 50,000 patients on file, we regularly receive as many as 800 incoming calls daily between the two practices. Yet our patient waiting areas are now quiet and peaceful, which has created a more medically professional and caring feel to the practice," he added.

The clinic estimates that it has significantly raised patient quality of service with 75 percent of calls being answered within 30 seconds, and 90 percent of calls answered within one minute. This outcome is a major improvement over the previous system, where calls could be queued for lengthy periods creating patient service issues, and receptionists had to deal with many conflicting demands. The clinic also needed a UC telephony system that could be linked to a second practice located nearby.
