ShoreTel names Pedro Rump as VP of engineering and operations; appoints industry veteran Edward F. Thompson to Board of Directors

SUNNYVALE, CA, January 26, 2006 - ShoreTel, Inc., the fastest growing IP PBX company in the United States and the leader in customer satisfaction, today announced that it has strengthened its management team, naming Pedro Rump vice president of engineering and operations, and appointing Edward F. Thompson to its Board of Directors. Rump has more than 20 years of experience leading the development of robust networking applications for both private and public sector companies. He reports to ShoreTel president and CEO, John W. Combs. Thompson has extensive global corporate operating experience spanning from early stage companies to a $50 billion enterprise in industries ranging from technology to financial services

Pedro Rump most recently served as vice president of engineering and operations for Dust Networks, a provider of reliable, low-power mesh networking systems. Prior to joining Dust Networks, Rump was vice president of engineering at Littlefeet, where he led the development of a cellular infrastructure RF coverage system. He has also directed the engineering teams at SkyPilot, an 802.11 mesh networking company, and Inviso, where he oversaw the development of the company's innovative micro display system. Rump received his start in the PBX industry managing various hardware and software design groups for ROLM, IBM and Siemens before becoming vice president of engineering at Splash Technology, a provider of digital imaging server solutions. He holds an MS and BS in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Edward F. Thompson has served as a senior advisor to Fujitsu Limited and as a director of several Fujitsu subsidiaries or portfolio companies since 1995. From 1976 to 1994, Thompson served in a series of management positions with Amdahl Corporation including chief financial officer and secretary. He also founded and served as chief executive officer of Amdahl Capital Corporation. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of SonicWall, Inc., Stratex Networks, Inc. and Niku Corporation. Thompson also serves on the advisory boards of Diamondhead Ventures and RPost International Limited. Thompson holds an MBA in operations research from Santa Clara University and a BS in aeronautical engineering from the University of Illinois.
