School District Takes ShoreTel Technology on the Road

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 24, 2012 – ShoreTel® (NASDAQ; SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple premise and cloud-based business phone system and communication solutions with fully integrated unified communications (UC), announced its participation in the deployment of Scottsdale Unified School District’s eCoach, a first of its kind mobile learning and technology training tech bus.

Hundreds of school districts nationally have deployed ShoreTel to enhance communication while reducing costs. The Scottsdale Unified School District has taken this one step further, converting an old bus into a modern mobile classroom to train teachers on all the latest technology tools and gadgets before they hit the classroom.

Living up to ShoreTel’s mantra of brilliantly simple, the unified communication solution is flexible enough to easily be deployed and used on a school bus. The district’s new eCoach program uses communications technology from ShoreTel that delivers a full suite of versatile tools for managing real-time communications allowing computers and phone systems to seamlessly handle voice, video, or IM as needed. This initiative will save the district time, travel expenses and offers an intimate way for teachers to easily gain the skills they need to become better educators.

The technology installed in eCoach is designed to replicate what is in the classrooms, including a ShoreTel business phone system with integrated unified communications. As the technology needs change, the eCoach will be updated with the latest hardware and software releases, which will allow staff and teachers to learn about them before they are implemented in the classrooms and schools.

The Scottsdale Unified School District has 33 schools currently in process of implementing an on-premise ShoreTel business VoIP phone system, serving about 26,000 students. The district employs more than 3,000 people, including about 1,700 teachers. Its boundaries include most, but not all, of the city of Scottsdale, almost all of the town of Paradise Valley, a section of the city of Phoenix and a section of the city of Tempe.
