Columbia Public Schools Choose ShoreTel Solution for Quality Communications Now and in the Future

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Feb. 10, 2016 – ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR) and JMA Information Technology today announced that Columbia Public Schools (of Missouri) selected a ShoreTel communications system to meet the needs of 3,000 employees and 18,000 students across 40 campuses and 2,000 classrooms.

When it was time to replace its aging telephony system, the school district reviewed several UC vendors, keeping in mind the requirement to have analog phones in every classroom. ShoreTel was the best fit, and JMA IT deployed a ShoreTel system that integrated with the existing analog phones and offered extensive new features such as mobility and E911 notification. The installation was completed on time and under the projected budget.

“We didn’t want a modern system built on top of a legacy system,” said Chris Diggs, director of technology services for Columbia Public Schools. “ShoreTel designed a 21st-century telephony solution. In the end, we decided ShoreTel could take us into the future. ShoreTel and our partner JMA IT were 100 percent committed to our success.”

ShoreTel brings Columbia Public Schools a more extensive feature set than their old system at the same cost, including conferencing, mobility, and E911 functionality. ShoreTel Mobility cuts the cost of roaming by enabling users to switch to Wi-Fi when available, and the application will display the caller’s office phone number rather than their personal mobile number. Another favorite new feature is the delivery of voicemail messages into e-mail in-boxes, which make messages easier to access on the go.
