Tips and Tricks: How To Access ShoreTel Contact Center Agent Manager on Your iPad or iPhone

A common question received by the Contact Center team here at ShoreTel goes something along the lines of, “How can I view the Agent Manager on my iPad?”

The Agent Manager – or Real-Time Reports as customers commonly refer it to – is a Windows based solution that is built into ShoreTel Enterprise Contact Center. As such, it is not something that natively runs on an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad. Fortunately there are several apps within the Apple App Store that can solve the problem for you.

Generally, the utilities apps allowing you to view a desktop are called either Remote Desktop apps or Desktop Streaming apps. If you do a search for Remote Desktop you’ll find plenty of them.

I use is Splashtop made, oddly enough, by a company named Splashtop. They have both an iPad and iPhone version of their app, priced at $4.99 and $1.99 respectively. (I’m not decreeing Splashtop is the best but is the one that has worked best for me.)

Once you install the app on your iOS device, you will then need to install the Splashtop Streamer app on your Windows PC. This is a free download on the Splashtop website. The setup of the app requires that your iOS device and your Windows PC be on the same network, so this is very much something to be used within your work environment. If you need to access your PC remotely there are other solutions available such as GoToMyPC.

Once the app is installed and the streamer app is on your PC, connect to your PC on your iPad and you will be able to navigate the Agent Manager as if you were in front of your PC.

Because of the extra screen space provided on the iPad, I’ve found that it looks best on that device but works equally as well on your iPhone – just a bit smaller! That said, you can pinch-and-pull to zoom in and out on a part of the Agent Manager that you want to view up close.


Keep in mind that ShoreTel does not support these applications or this process. If however you need to access the Agent Manager from your iPad or iPhone, this is one way you can do just that.
