Market analysts from Infonetics Research recently released excerpts from the firm's fourth quarter 2011 Enterprise Unified Communication, VoIP and TDM Equipment vendor market share report. The report tracks PBX, voice over IP gateway and unified communications application sales. The quarterly report covers international and regional market analysis and forecasts, and a number of providers of IP phones and hosted PBX services.

According to the report, ShoreTel saw the largest PBX revenue growth in the market in 2011, though Cisco saw the highest average revenue in the fourth quarter. IP PBX line shipments grew by 12 percent, and posted sequential growth in the quarter, as did unified messaging solutions.

Diane Myers, director of VoIP and IMS analysis at Infonetics, said that global PBX revenue increased by 2 percent since the fourth quarter 2010, despite the economic situation in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Asia and Latin America saw the greatest growth, with the overall market increasing by 6 percent.

Analysts expect this growth to continue, though many small and medium sized business' may struggle to expand their communications. However, by converting to cloud phone system solutions, companies can save money and centralize their phone system, improving service and decreasing costs.
