Modernized Phone Systems Critical To Success

The right staff is everything. Well, almost everything. Modern workers expect to be enabled in ways that support their mobile habits. Communication and collaboration assets, in this sense, need to be available beyond the walls of the physical office. No matter how talented and capable employees are, they cannot perform in effective ways without the right tools in their collective wheelhouse.

One of the biggest ways in which organizations can foster productivity and satisfaction is through the deployment of a cloud communications system. Smartphone and tablet use has shown countless people how their lives - both personal and professional - can be streamlined, and they demand to be provided with the resources that will make this a reality.

Of all the enterprise channels that need to be modernized, voice is the biggest. Having existed primarily in landlines for the majority of its existence, the needs of the present day have pushed VoIP - a long-time enterprise asset - into the spotlight as a key aspect of business telecom infrastructures.

"With its noted improvements in the business world, there's no question that VoIP is a technology that continues to be growing in popularity," wrote Marlin Finance contributor Brian Walsh. "Its adoption is consistent throughout companies worldwide[.]"

VoIP Deployments Different For Everyone

But while VoIP implementation is becoming a goal for companies all over the world, the individual routes that will get them there are going to vary drastically. The needs of any given organization are going to, in many cases, be completely different from other entities. For example, some businesses have legacy circuits that have not achieved their maximum ROI, but are not inherently geared toward the cloud. These enterprises will most likely opt to adapt their existing connections to unlock cloud availability.

In other cases, however, company networks have either fallen into disrepair or simply have not aged well. Rather than attempting to repair something that cannot be fixed, organizations that find themselves in these situations are more likely to seek out hosted cloud VoIP. Because business telephone systems can now be maintained by a team of professionals in an optimized remote location, in-house tech staffers can spend their time and effort finding new ways in which to use these tools instead of worrying about keeping them operational.

VoIP A Stepping Stone To Cloud UC

For many organizations, cloud VoIP is just the beginning. Siloed endpoints and channels have long presented problems for enterprises, forcing workers to switch between several devices and programs just to complete one task. Uniting them can save time and boost productivity, but this cannot be achieved without first getting voice on the same page as other platforms.

Cloud VoIP begets cloud unified communications. Today's employees must have the ability to leverage multiple channels simultaneously. For example, voice-to-email dictation can save time on writing missives and can even be used to convert phone messages to text for convenient reading. This breed of interoperability is becoming a staple of effective enterprise telecom networks, and as such is being expected to be utilized by staff members.

Modern Workforce Demands VoIP

Even without the "bell and whistles," so to speak, VoIP is proving to have significant advantages for business workers. The consumerization of IT has demonstrated that employees need not sit at a desk all day to accomplish their tasks. Smartphones and tablets - combined with advancements in laptop technology - have made working from home, the coffee shop or any other location a viable option. Where this would have once been considered impractical, cloud-based VoIP allows staffers to take the network with them wherever they go.

This is also an incredible way to expand a growing business. In many instances, all someone needs to be connected to an enterprise infrastructure is an app on their touchscreen device. With this in mind, opening new offices in far-away parts of the country can be easier and more cost-effective than ever.

With so many benefits, cloud VoIP is becoming harder to ignore as a primary means for voice communications. Organizations who want to stay out ahead of the competition while fostering innovation among their employees should investigate how best to implement VoIP. For those that are expanding or have no use for their legacy systems, a hosted solution will likely be the most viable solution.
