The phones are silent and computers are dark in our U.S. offices today.

Today is Memorial Day, the long weekend seen by many as the unofficial start for summer vacation – filled with family gatherings and fun with friends. Originating after the Civil War as Decoration Day, it is a day to remember those who have died in our nation's service.

Not everyone is able to sit back and relax on this holiday, even as they give thanks for the service of our military, past and present. ShoreTel customers like the California Department of Veteran Affairs strive to serve California's veterans and their families, ensuring that they will live the highest quality of life – with dignity and honor.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers provides vital public engineering services in peace and war to strengthen our national security, energize the economy and reduce the potential risks from disasters. Communication is key to all army operations, and ShoreTel is proud to be able to play a part in helping them solve problems on land or sea. (About half of the Huntington district’s 1,000 employees are stationed at headquarters; the rest are spread across 49 remote sites including a floating repair vessel fleet).

Thanks to ShoreTel unified communications and enterprise mobility solutions, you’ll still be able to reach us for critical business needs today. But no matter where you are – working or relaxing, please join us today, in a moment of silence, to commemorate the men and women who gave their lives in service for the country.
