M5 Networks has had some fantastic alumni from Rochester Institute of Technology join our staff. In their own words, here is why they love to work at M5.

"When I learned about M5’s culture and career path options, I was thrilled! Before coming to work for M5, I was a help desk technician for two years at Frontier Communications. I enjoyed what I did at my previous job, but I felt that my career was at a stand-still.

When I decided to focus on telecommunications and networking as a career, I knew that finding a place that I would fit into as a woman and a minority would be a challenge. When I interviewed with M5, I not only knew that this would be a great opportunity to advance my career,  but I also knew that I would not have a problem fitting in. M5 welcomed me with open arms, and I immediately felt that I was part of a great company that would do great things.

I was given the opportunity to start with M5 as a Tier 1 Support Representative, and at that time,  my manager asked me to explain my desired career path. I knew that I had an interest in networking and learning more about routers, switches, and other devices/technology that are required for a network to function properly.

I discussed this with my manager, and he explained to me what my options were and what I needed to do to get there. As time progressed, I learned more about the Network Operations Center and the responsibilities of a Network Operations Center Engineer. I began to do some cross-training and slowly learned enough to be able to move into my current position. After about 8 months of being in the Tier 1 Support Representative role, I was offered a position as a Network Operations Center Engineer.

I can honestly say that I really enjoy doing what I do, and every day I am learning more and more. Working here at M5 has been a wonderful experience thus far, and I am excited about what the future may hold. M5 has provided me with a challenging work environment that I am very grateful for, I am sure this is a valuable experience that I will reflect on for years to come.

I am very passionate about what I do, and I have M5 to thank for that! Great people and a great culture are what make M5 a great company to work for!" - Hope Luster
