IP Telephony Survey Results
In March 2005, Computerworld invited its online visitors to participate in a short survey on IP telephony. The goal of the survey was to better understand the challenges of IP telephony and how different-size organizations are addressing those challenges.
The results of the survey clearly show that IP telephony is now a reality in the enterprise with 82% of those surveyed having either already deployed IP telephony, actively testing and evaluating, or gathering data. The survey also found that the primary challenges facing organizations related to managing their phone systems are imcompatible systems and the costs of associated moves, adds and changes. It was no surprise that system reliability, ease-of-use, scalability and ease of management are the primary system capabilities most important to IP telephony infulencers.
Cameron Frasnelly, Network Manager for PremierWest Bank"We did our research and saw that a converged infrastructure - not TDM - was our best path forward. In addition to providing a uniform, customer-friendly communications experience across all of our branches, a converged network would also give us an easy-to-manage technology platform with tremendous flexibility for future growth."
