Tim Horton Children’s Foundation
Associated with the Tim Hortons restaurant chain, this nonprofit, charitable organization provides fun-filled camping environments for children from economically disadvantaged homes. The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation operates five camps across Canada, one in the U.S., and has two more sites opening soon. The emphasis at camp is on helping the kids develop lifelong skills and build confidence, and encouraging them to take home from camp a more positive attitude about their future.
“Communications is extremely important for staying connected with the foundation’s camps.”
—Stash Kossek, Manager of IT, Tim Hortons
The Foundation had been using Nortel Meridian PBX systems that were over a decade old. The requirements for the new VoIP solution included highest levels of reliability and ease of use, and the possibility of an E-911 application.
“We need a communications platform that is easy to administer—one that is very straightforward. There are only two people in IT and we need to be able to manage and make changes or upgrades without complexities and risks.”
—Stash Kossek, Manager of IT, Tim Hortons
The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation selected a ShoreTel UC solution that includes ShoreTel IP Phones, ShoreTel Voice Switches, the ShoreTel Communicator with Operator Access, the ShoreTel Emergency Notification advanced application, and 20 ShoreTel licenses.
Benefits include:
- Highest levels of reliability to ensure connectivity at remote sites
- Lower TCO than competitor solutions
- Advanced call features and E911 capabilities
“ShoreTel just had the simplicity and resiliency we wanted at the right price. Even with a VoIP equipment donation scenario using another vendor, we had calculated a lower TCO using ShoreTel for the long term.”
—Stash Kossek, Manager of IT, Tim Hortons
