Extreme Networks Ethernet Switches for VoIP
Summit® series switches provide advanced features at an affordable price with 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet ports with and without Power over Ethernet. The stackable Summit® switches are an ideal choice for providing high-density connections for the core of small enterprise network or at the edge of your network to the desktop or IP phones
BlackDiamond® series switches, which are available as configurable chassis, fit well as the high performance core or single switch network solution for the most demanding enterprises, switching Voice-over-IP (VoIP), video, wireless and data traffic.
Running on both the Summit and BlackDiamond switches, the ExtremeXOS resilient modular operating system supports customized network control automation from core to edge utilizing automated IP handset provisioning or "green" power conservation modules.

Features
- QoS priority setting and Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS): Extreme Networks Switches supports Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS) ring protocol for less than 50ms network recovery and maintain Quality of Service (Qos) required for VoIP calls.
- Universal Port Automation: Universal Port feature automates device discovery and provisioning for IP handsets. It leverages Link Layer Discovery Protocol (802.1AB) or 802.1x authentication protocols. Other automated modules can be used, like the "Green" Power Conservation Module, to reduce energy consumption by turning off power to PoE enabled IP handsets when not in use.
- Advanced Security features: Support multiple 802.1x supplicants and VLAN assignments to securely authenticate and segregate traffic on a each port. Also each switch can support security features, such as ACLs, IP Security, bandwidth control, and sFlow analysis tools.
- Modular OS for hitless upgrades : Extreme Networks Switches use the same single, modular OS from network core to edge. The modular OS allows for hitless software upgrades and hitless failover.
- Scalability with SummitStack®: Stack Summit® X250 and X450 switches with a mix of different interface types and port densities in a single stack
Benefits
- High Quality Voice Connections: Resilient networks that also maintain the priority of ShoreTel VoIP call traffic and other real-time applications. Traffic gets through even when links or devices fail or when under adverse congested conditions.
- Automation: The ExtremeXOS™ Universal Port feature simplifies and automates provisioning and adds/moves/changes of your network, complementing the ease of deployment of the ShoreTel system. Frees IT personnel to address more important issues.
- Comprehensive Security: Provides secure networks that are reliable for ShoreTel voice traffic. This allows employees to be productive, and giving both partners and customers access to products and services while sensitive data is protected.
- Upgrades on your schedule: With a modular OS, administrators can apply new software releases without taking the switch out of service. Traffic for real-time voice connections is maintained giving IT flexibility to perform the duties of their job on their desired schedule.
- Scalability: Use stacking to grow your network when and as you need to while supporting the full range of features and applications. Avoids the need for forklift upgrades and allows you to easily expand your voice network as you add ShoreTel IP phones.
